CONFERENCE 2008
Project Management South Africa (PMSA) has announced the dates and venue for Conference 2008: From Strategy to Reality.
It will take place from 26 to 28 May at Gallagher Estate, Midrand, Gauteng

The PMSA Conference takes place every second year. In 2008 project, programme and portfolio managers and those seeking to enter these professions are invited to attend and benefit from our tried and tested conference format, which includes three bumper conference days featuring invited plenary speakers and reviewed papers, one- and two-day hands-on workshops dedicated to enhancing specific project management skills, and an exhibition showcasing the latest products and offerings in the project management realm.
Broadly, the Conference streams and Workshops will cover:

Best practice processes and methodologies for project management
Project management training and education
Professional development
Technology for project management
Managing project requirements of different industry sectors
Maintaining a customer focus in project management

RE-REGISTER YOUR MEMBERSHIP
The PMSA EXCO and Board have decided to encourage all members who did not re-register their membership in 2007 to do so before 28 February 2008.
All members who do not settle their annual membership fee will have to rejoin as new members and hence lose their continued membership period.

INDUSTRY UPDATE
SAQA have now registered 3 new qualifications for use in the project management sector. These are:
• NQF level 5 – National Certificate in Project Management
• NQF level 5 - National Diploma in Project Management
• NQF level 4 – Further Education Certificate in Project Support Services
Also registered is a unit standard at NQF3 that is designed for use in community projects, schools and simple project situations. It is called ‘Perform work using a project approach’.
